I am not real big into nugget hunting, because I spend so much searching for relics. However, I'm not dumb enough to pass up a good opportunity to see what all the gold fever excitement is about. My wife got a teaching position in Phoenix, AZ for a couple years, and I thought I was in the treasure hunting doldrums to be sure. Then, I read up on the Lost Dutchman Mine, and found out that there was great potential to find natural gold nuggets in Arizona. I drove out to Quartzite with a Lobo SuperTRAQ, and I must admit, I caught a really bad case of gold fever. In single afternoons, I would find several small nuggets in the dry arroyos with my detector. My best find after a few outings was a chunk of quartz crystals encrusted with gold - it is just gorgeous!
